Hi everybody!

I’m using Linux Mint and I mostly play via Steam, but Metro Rexud 2033 was on giveaway in GOG so I would like to play that.

I have Wine installed but I ”locked” the version for a specific guitar app to work.

Which client etc would you suggest is the easiest for playing GOG games on Linux? I’m a noob and an idiot so please explain to me like i’m five years old.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Since no one mentioned it yet.

You can also add the executable to Steam as a non-steam game and in its settings you can configure Proton as compatibility tool.

That works quite well for some stuff.

I was going to say Lutris since that is what i’m using since forever for GOG Games. It even has it directly integrated nowadays and can be connected to your GOG account to basically one-click install the games you own.

But since everybody else here writes “Heroic”! i guess i have to give that a try now…

Thanks everybody! I’ll give Heroic a try.

First post outside communities I’m trying to build, Lemmy seems very helpful and fun!

Heroic is the way to go. Skip Lutris and bottles to avoid complications.

As an aside, if you’re an avid gamer and once you get comfortable with Linux, I would keep Bazzite Linux on your radar. It has a lot of gaming stuff configured out of the box. http://bazzite.gg/

I think Heroic Games Launcher is the better option, seconded by Lutris which I use if I have issue with some games through HGL which is quiete rare. There is also JunkStore as a DeckyLoader plugin but it is pretty bare bones and since you’re on Mint I would say Heroic is what you should use.

Edit : JunkStore is proprietary and GoG version is paid. Both Heroic and Lutris are Free and Open Source !

Just to add one more thing to the stack, Bottles is quite nice if literally nothing else works. I’ve had problems with Heroic and exactly two games, and in both of those cases, spinning up a fresh bottle specifically to install GOG Galaxy was a flawless solution.

Lutris or Heroic (but I mostly recommend Lutris) Eventhough Heroic is better for GOG games
