It’s really crazy how he is being treated as if he was a high ranking military officer or an elected politician. He was just a hateful guy with a podcast.

This is the face of extremism- falling over each other to be the most subservient and loyal to the cause. It’s groupthink in a nutshell, they egg each other on and compete to be the most extreme because if you don’t shout hard enough then maybe you’re a traitor.

This is how you get nazis and holocausts.

I was about to post the same thing.

Its a fucking charade. a desperate downward theatrical spiral to show who can be the most ridiculously “True to the cause” because the person/persons who show the least effort will inevitably become the out group.

It is not just about being a traitor or not. This attempt at declaring this guy a martyr is basically trying to prove you are one step more extreme than him on a meta level so you can absorb his influence and supporters to your being.

He was just a hateful guy with a podcast.

To be fair, given how Lemmy is filled with posts about this guy he wasn’t “just a guy”. Must be even more scary on more popular platforms. Really, you better stop praising him.

If Charlie Kirk gets entombed in a place of honor I’ll make it my life’s mission to excavate that fucker’s body in the least respectful way possible.

I will donate a jar of piss. I’ll piss in a jar. And then figure out a way to transport that.

What happens with that, and Kirks grave, is beyond what I can control. Do with it as you will.

Is there a male equivalent to “Ding, dong, the witch is dead” one could sing/sound/play in hearing range. I found the British way of dealing with Thatcher that way inspiring.

Comparing the two is insulting. She was an actual head of state and a true force of evil, this chump was a two bit podcaster, he deserves neither half flags, having a state burial, nor having any type of songs written about him.

Jesus christ, you’re playing into their hands.

Nothing says “cannon fodder” like this over-the-top response to his death.

I think when senator McCain, the veteran and hero, died, they insulted him.

Oof. MC Cain was a vet and a pow. Hero is a bit far. He got shot down on a mission he wasn’t supposed to be on, in a plane any other pilot wouldn’t have been allowed near after crashing 3 prior to that and his demand was only possible because his daddy got put in charge of Vietnam after he was captured and told the enemy his dad was in charge.

It’s like one of those rare times where nepotism and ego actually worked out ok.

That’s not heroic that doesnt even imply he’s a decent person just less shitty then the one before.

You can bend over backwards to call the guy a hero but you’re going to have to chop that definition down until your cashier is a hero because they didn’t steal your change.

I don’t like being a tinfoil hat guy, but I can’t help wondering who this benefits the most. Sure seems like the right is capitalizing on this very quickly.

Other countries could be involved, it could just be a crazy person with a gun, it could be someone who hated his hateful messaging. We don’t know.

How about we minimally figure out what actually happened before honoring a podcaster, who got killed, like he is a war hero?

It’s reasonable to expect that the conservatives have expected a significant shooting of a right-wing figure was inevitable in the US, and had strategies discussed beforehand to capitalise on the occasion. No need for tinfoil hats.

No strategies even necessary, they are all on board with the fanaticism. They don’t even need martyrs, they demonize the left constantly, it’s like with narcissists- they accuse you of shit constantly and feverishly, and the one time you actually do happen to be guilty of something that is judgment day and proof of everything else they made up about you.

It’s how witch processes go, it’s how holocausts go, it’s how fascism always goes.

How good a shot was it?

The guy who went for trump took a number of shots and missed (mostly). I don’t know enough about guns to understand how hard it was to one shot CK from the distance he was with a rifle.

That’s dumb. That was a decent distance, people make it sound like it’s some super simple shot. You’d need more practice than “an hour”…
