    Random thought this evoked: the suffix phobe evokes the idea that fear is the basis of the category. I think bigot is a more accurate category.

      pho·bi·a noun an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.

      It’s the aversion part. But yeah, they’re bigots. Transbigot? Sounds weird, but I could get behind it

        the reason I don’t like this definition is that you can even date us while still being a bigot. both the aversion and fear parts are entirely arbitrary

            think of it more as an institutional problem like sexism instead of an individual presenting phobia symptoms. the reason why transphobia became the dominant term is probably because it makes it easier to ignore systemic issues
