Rugrats is a really strong depiction of realistic family dynamics. Lots of interesting stuff in the background. Also one of the best representations of a modern American Jewish family on television, I grew up in a mixed-faith situation as well and the Pickles felt incredibly relatable.

I grew up in a rural southern baptist community with zero Jewish kids, Rugrats was literally my first introduction to Judaism that wasn’t through an evangelical Christian lens. So I’m glad that it wasn’t a terrible representation!

whats funny is the grandparents had to be taken off tv because people found them offensive…

they were literally modeled and acted like the creaters own grandparents

Man totally didn’t remember this episode.

Edit: It’s from the episode Mother’s Day. I do remember the episode, but not this detail. Maybe because the main focus was on Chuckie or I was too young to understand how serious Tommy’s situation was.

Yeah, was this episode made in the 21st century, like after The Movie/All Grown Up? I have no memory of this episode from the 90’s.

Incubators are used for newborns that need extra support at birth. He’s not necessarily premature, although it’s a common reason to use one.

This is the woke DEI agenda fascists want you to be afraid of (though I think they called it “political correctness” in those days)
