Archinstall getting easier than windows 11 install is kind of a fucked up future
im using
archwin11 btw is the flex of the futureWhen my Manjaro install asked me if I want to install it in / partition and to use my /home partition as /home without deleting my data, I literally almost came.
WTF, this is new to me. Sounds like generic distro hop with less steps. Nice
I had my partitions set up for a while like that and in Ubuntu it was a mess to recreate every time.
Windows has gotten so fucked lately, by the time I finally convince it to use the browser I want I still end up getting shown ads for Doom and Tiktok - even on a work domain joined computer.
I legit don’t understand how people are even using windows anymore these days. For the first time in years i did a bare metal install because my dumbass wanted to play gta online, which now has anticheat, so i decided to dualboot. First attempt to install the installer completely shit itself and the screen went black, could not recover from it. Even a full reboot did not resume the install process, so i had to run the install all over again. Now that it’s finally installed i keep having weird issues with my rgb and fan control software randomly deciding to not autostart, and manually starting them does not work, or my fans just start spinning at max speed uncontrollably, and the only way to fix it is to do a reboot. Windows 11 has been out for years now right? It still feels like beta quality software, shit just keeps breaking, and then people have the gall to say windows just works lol.
For my last install I had to remove either the SSDs or NVMEs (don’t remember which) or the installation would just fail. This was a ‘known’ issue! Fortunately haven’t had to boot it for months…

I cannot believe he still has a channel worth anything. I think LTT favs might actually be worse than Swift8es
It’s a tech illiterate YouTuber for tech illiterate people that think they are tech literate
What I find funny is that he can’t even build a computer for a budget he sets out
“I had this part laying around so it’s free” or “buy this part so we can meet our budget, just upgrade it later”
It’s a tech illiterate YouTuber for tech illiterate people that think they are tech literate
That’s a great way to say it. I usually just call him a “tech entertainer” that real tech people look down on. But I like your version.
The video that really polarized my opinion on them was their “storage server upgrade” video where they worked on replacing their horribly and amateurishly configured storage server.
Wendell from Lvl1 and Allan Jude (maintainer for OpenZFS) commented on LTT’s setup and, while they didn’t outright say anything negative, they didn’t have anything good to say and their tone heavily implied they thought LTT are posers.
What’s wrong with the video?

For ultimative noops. Fedora Atomic. You can’t do much wrong. Only problem is that adding missing driver need some terminal experience , but tell me where it is easy to add missing driver…without catching a virus

As you mentioned, 99% I had in the last month two devices , one from 2014 and one from 2024. The 2014 laptop had minimal missing driver problems on windows 10 that took me a while to find and fix, except for one driver that still is missing. The 2024 laptop that I wanted to reinstall windows 11, did not like it when you USB boot windows 11. It had missing drivers for everything, Network, GPU, Mouse Trackpad, the installer also prompted for Driver CD input, like , what??? I had to repair the installed windows instead, don’t know why this happened.
I had the missing driver issue with my scanner, so I layered. But the scanner program was flatpak and couldn’t somehow access the drivers still. Had to layer it too.
Not hard, but very unintuitive.
In short, good for 95%, very challenging for some others.
I have a few users on fedora atomic distros. Found out one hadn’t been getting updated since version 36 for some reason lately.
