If mermaids are half fish, half human… why don’t we ever see the fish-on-top, legs-on-bottom version

Boy do I have a guy for you!

A monster from the game Metaphor: Refantazio called "Homo Fios". It's a Human size fish with legs wearing boots

Another picture of Homo Fios from Metaphor Re:Fantazio. The human-fish is facing forward with it's mouth open, after using the skill "Fishy-Fandango"

Anyway, hated the first fight against this bastard

Prolly because you can’t fap to a bikini top on a fish.

I mean guess you could if you try hard enough.

It’s probably be a regular fish body, on top of a human bottom half in a thong

Because sailors never got drunk enough to see that version.

Edit: Let me revise that to say “Because sailors never got drunk enough to admit seeing that version when they got drunk enough to see it.”

😂 So basically, the reverse mermaid is the ultimate secret only revealed after just enough rum, but never enough courage to admit it! 🥃🧜‍♂️🍻

        just enough rum

        This does not exist.

There is only “just one more rum,” followed by “that was too much rum.”

Exactly! ‘Just enough rum’ is a myth it’s always ‘one more rum’ until the ship starts spinning! 🥃😂

Classic sailor move! At least it’s easier to find your boat than your car after a night out… unless the tide’s got other plans 🌊

Well, there was an appearance in that one episode of Red Dwarf…but it was the object of desire for the creature descended from the ship’s cat, so…

Because there’s no sea creature that looks like a fish head with human legs. Manatees look like human torsos with fish legs. If you see a manatee from above the water, you’ll understand why a sailor might think they saw a mermaid. All mythological creatures sort of resemble real animals.

Yeah, in reality, mythological creatures often borrow traits from real animals. Sailors were seeing manatees or dugongs from above round head, arm-like flippers, a swishing tail and their brains filled in the rest. Add months at sea, bad lighting, and a little wishful thinking… and suddenly, mermaids exist.

Because of many reasons. One of them being that fish don’t talk so they wouldn’t be able to sing.

Another is that top fish bottom human is the worst of both. Bad swimming and bad walking.

I had thought one more but I forgot in when I imagined a top fish bottom human mermaid twerking attract sailors

Yeah… until you imagine one twerking on the pier to lure sailors in. Whole new level of sea shanty 🐟🦵💃⚓
