Intel CEO: My job is to win Apple back

He was all about hype IMO, IDK maybe he thought Intel’s problem was a worker mentality problem?
I also just hate these over enthusiastic bosses, that desperately try to make it look like their exaggerated wages are worth it.

But the idea of Winning Apple back was so stupid. Intel lost Apple because Intel is a poor team player, and wouldn’t make the CPU Apple needed.
Exactly the same reason they left the PPC cooperation with IBM.
Even iPhone could have been based on Intel, if Intel hadn’t rejected the idea completely. And Intel could likely have avoided the Arm revolution altogether!
IMO it’s a good thing Intel screwed up on the iPhone though. Arm has been doing a hell of a job on mobile.

I think if somehow Intel was able to dominate mobile, I feel like they would have a lockhold on the industry.

Maybe you are right, without mobile and Arm, TSMC would not have had nearly the same resources to beat Intel.
And Intel might have recovered way faster after the 10nm fiasco.

It’s hard to say, because Intel failed in large degree because of arrogance, and that would definitely not have been less if they had captured mobile too.
