Feeling concern for the welfare of a corporation is a lot like caring for a lion or some other large predator. You don’t want to see it suffer but you know that it could turn on you at any moment, when it’s convenient for them.
Who gives a fuck about the travails of corporations on the internet?
What’s wrong with limiting social media to Lemmy? I like it here.
You horny bastards
What evidence do you have that there is crime in your neighborhood, have you seen any firsthand? How well do you know your neighbours and wider community, are they concerned about any threats? Worrying about something like this is not healthy. I can’t imagine living somewhere I need to continually look over my shoulder.
Having a good team is such a blessing and by the same token a bad team can be incredibly toxic. The territorial pissing sounds like they need more feminine influences in this workspace.
The current scale of Lemmy is appealing. It doesn’t have the same breadth but I happily trade the toxic elements of Reddit, etc, for a little breadth.
The premise of most of these type of arguments is that intelligence is something we can measure. Meanwhile, nobody knows what’s going on inside their own brains, never mind other species.
Until very recently we just assumed that animals don’t have a complex inner life because it doesn’t superficially resemblance our own. It’s also convenient to make that assumption if you’re going to industrially farm those animals or destroy their habitats, etc.
We need sunlight on our skin to generate vitamin D. If you don’t get enough vitamin D you will feel like shit. Not to mention the insiduous psychological effects.

I heard the latest research is indicating that we use the same amount of energy each day, no matter what activity we are doing. Thus gaining or losing weight is a matter of controlling what we eat. Bigger people eat more and smaller people require less food.
The creativity and inquisitive curiousity in this thread is honestly inspiring and heartwarming.
My week was spent in object oriented code and log burning stove installation. The cherry on the top was putting my knee through the glass so last night was devoted to thinking about how it can be repaired without spending more money.
None of these people know anything about science and engineering.

Comparing people is unhealthy and the road to depression. It’s easy to imagine something we don’t like about ourselves that we cannot change, no matter how much money we have.
Money breeds resentment and invites corruption. Whenever we introduce money into a relationship, it imperils friendship and creates conflicts of interest. Money cannot buy your love. People who love money are ugly, no matter how good they look.
Elephants are far more sensitive and intelligent than most of the people in this story.
That’s the spirit
