One of the first big kids’ books I read on my own. I should re-read the series as an adult since I might have been almost too young for it the first time.
Live to be 80 and retire to an assisted living apartment. The slight differences in life expectancy really show up at the back end. My grandpa spent a year as the only man on his floor and got all the geriatric pussy he could handle. Plus, since he was nearly blind from macular degeneration, he imagined them all as beautiful.
Take care of your health, and good luck with the ladies!
You were right, even if it was for the wrong reason.
The Zillow listing said acres where they presumably meant square feet which are a lot smaller. This is a city lot, probably less than even a single acre.
Elliptical orbit is what you get when all gravity vectors point to a single source such as Earth’s center of mass. If you instead make the “flat Earth” assumption that all gravity vectors are parallel, then you get a parabola. Since most of us aren’t throwing things very far on a planetary scale, the parabolic approximation is frequently considered “good enough”.
Learn to shift based off the sound of the engine, don’t stare at the tachometer.
Unless you’re like my grandpa who had his engine replaced at 20k miles because he revved the engine until he could hear it running before putting it into gear. Between quieter modern engines, and his hearing not being as good as it once was, that meant he redlined it in the driveway every time he started the engine.
He only got a couple more years out of the new engine, but that was because he couldn’t turn his head very well either so he didn’t bother looking before changing lanes.
I, personally, have no issue with being gay, agender, or affectionately or sarcastically referring to oneself as a faggot, but none of that is relevant to the particular usage that got you in trouble.
You weren’t talking about yourself. You tried to bait another party into using hate speech to escalate a dispute. You wanted to weaponize a slur to play the victim and get someone else in trouble. And you did so in a public place where your behavior caused offense to bystanders.
Fraternal service association, like Elks Club or Rotary Club? They may have traditions, but not a theology. They’re nominally harmless, if not beneficial, both to members and to the community at large. They’re easy to leave, just stop paying your dues.
There are, and my state would have banned those too it they’d heard about them when they were banning RCV. They weren’t making principled objections like monotonicity failures. They likely noticed that most of RCV’s loudest advocates were from the wrong party (and some of the were the wrong color too!), and figured that was a good enough reason to shut it down.
My microwave’s beeper only work in 10s increments. Meaning if I enter a cook time of 91 seconds, I get 91s at high power, 9s at low power, and a beep. If I listen for the power change, I have a 9 second window to open the door. It’s perfect; no annoying beeping, and the timer reads 0:00 so it doesn’t need to be cleared before reuse.
Most of my history / social studies classes, including AP history my senior year, focused on the United States. I think there was and is an AP World History, but my school didn’t offer it. So we learned about Pearl Harbor, and D-Day, and Nagasaki, but not much of the Euro-centric lead-up to war.
One of my social studies classes, maybe 9th grade or so, spent a period watching The Wave, which might be the closest part of my formal education to addressing OP’s question.

It’s popularity peaked before my time, but when Soeur Sourir (The Singing Nun) topped the charts with Dominique-nique-nique, it must have enjoyed significant secular popularity, perhaps in part because they didn’t know French well enough to really understand the lyrics.

Luigi Mangione tried, convicted of murder, and sentenced to life in prison. (I lose if no trial occurs in 2025, whether due to plea deals, procedural delays, or he gets Epsteined. I also lose if either NY or federal trial results in either acquittal or hung jury.)
I can make the Vulcan “live long and prosper” sign, but only with my left hand.
I don’t know. James Upham is credited with inventing the Bellamy salute and may have been inspired by the Roman Empire, or more likely by contemporary portrayals of it. Anyway, by 1930, nobody was heiling Caesar that way, but the salute was in use by American schoolchildren. On that basis, I stand by the claim that the Nazis stole it, directly or indirectly, from either the US, the Roman Empire, or Mussolini’s Italy. It’s a kind of cultural appropriation I find more palatable when done by people who don’t then proceed to violently annex most of Europe.
The Bellamy salute was invented in the United States for peaceful purposes. The Nazis stole it (as they did with the swastika and the term Aryan) and applied it to evil. As Nazi symbols, they became more strongly associated with the humanitarian atrocities of that regime than with their original meanings, to the extent that decent people hesitate to use them anymore.
The given examples suffice to prove the general identity. Both sides are obviously degree 4 polynomials, so if they agree at 5 points (include the degenerate case 0^3 = 0^2), then they agree everywhere.
