Wow, you pull new images every time you boot up? Coming from a mindset of having rock solid stability, this scares me. You’re living your life on the edge my friend. I wish I could do that.

If I can turn it on remotely, that’s a good feature. I have solar, I want it to work when the sun is out and I’m producing excess energy.
Yes, I know I can use other peripherals to do this (sometimes) but its always nicer if its just built in so I don’t need to waste carbon on other things.
The only thing I want when manufacturers add wifi to these things is to appeal to open source principles like allowing us to connect to it and communicate with it openly and not tie it down to some cloud service they run.
I access it through a reverse proxy (nginx). I guess the only weak point is if someone finds out the domain for it and starts spamming the login screen. But I’ve restricted access to the domain for most of the world anyway. Wireguard would probably be more secure but its not always possible if like on vacation and want to use it on the TV there…
Music folder on a network share. Navidrome and plex and jellyfin all have access to that library, then pick your poison for the client app. Plex is also DLNA enabled so my dumber AVR can access it too. I mostly use tempo app on android though. I’m a pinch, I can use navidromes web UI player to listen. The plex and jellyfin are mainly just a backup and overkill cause I can’t make up my mind.
Why not just buy a cheaper one? X060 or X070 series is usually fine in price and runs everything at high enough settings. Flagship is for maxed out everything on 4k+ resolutions. And in those cases, everything else is larger and more expensive as well; the monitor needs to be 4k, huge ass PSU, large case to fit the PSU and card in, even the power draw and energy… costs just start growing exponentially.
Now to wait 10 months for samsung to update.
What if Russia is like Pluto?
I thought your point was it was never happening? I provided examples where it did happen in the past and where its happening now. Volatility of the price vs USD is not the biggest issue if the payment processor gives the vendor USD back after the transaction. If the vendor believes in crypto, they can decide to keep it as well. Had Valve chosen to hold their crypto earnings in 2016 for a few years, they’d have seen even larger profits. But thats beside the point. I personally believe they canned it more because of transaction fees. At the time, bitcoin network was oversaturated due to an explosion of popularity which reduced it to unusable levels for everyday transactions.
You should be focusing on why other vendors are still supporting crypto and asking yourself why.
Never gonna happen is a bit of a stretch. It used to be a thing. Steam accepted bitcoin. They stopped accepting it due to volatility and high transaction fees at the time. You still price things in your local currency but convert at checkout. There are “plug and play” payment processors who can handle it now… Spar in Switzerland accepts it.
But imo, its not something regular people should be using anyway.
I remember these tough times. Doing all kinds of shit as a kid and the resolution was just to nuke it all and start anew.
Saw someone else sharing bees, yo, I got some bees.
I wish steam deck os would get this. I installed it a few times but it gets overwritten with updates.
I have a few old style xbox one controllers (without bluetooth) and need a xb wireless dongle to use them. It works fine with this driver.
Some dude ran a public telnet server, which upon connecting, would present to you the entirety of Star Wars: A New Hope in ASCII. It was glorious.
But that’s just the kernel…
gets thrown out of window too
Cant even look at these cases anymore. Its the <20L ITX life for me.
Well, it depends.
This specific application here is for usenet, so it is of no use to those who torrent.
If you do casual coughs torrenting and search for your stuff once in a while and download on your main machine, then no. Theres no need for anything else.
If you self host a media server, maybe a torrent client on the same machine, an arr stack can help out with it to the point that you will no longer visit a torrent site again. Once set up, instead of searching directly on a specific site, you would visit a self hosted page for say, movies, and search there. The search would be handled by another self hosted app which would search from a list of torrent sites you configured.
Did they really? Microsoft championed Teams and its pretty accepted in corporate environments today, especially if they are already on Microsoft.
Afaik, Skype for Business was merged into Teams. Skype for non-business consumers has been virtually dead for longer. The way I see it, Microsoft let go of the brand, the value of which is questionable in this decade. When they bought it, I remember the rumors saying it was because of its voice codec, which probably got used in everything from xbox live to teams in the end.
I had a similar dilemma and just went with bitwarden because I don’t trust myself not to fuck up. Bitwarden can’t access the passwords without my master pw (afaik) so I feel safe knowing that. I use it on all my devices so it gets synced there and even if the service is down, I have my passwords.
I’ll self host it when I reach the next level of paranoia.
Because they are a company and a board of ethical leaders to ensure it doesn’t turn to shit is no guarantee it doesn’t turn to shit. BlueSky is something a corporate mindset person creates because that’s the only thing they know. Have a problem to solve? Needs company + board.
Ahh, calmed me down. Never thought of doing anything like you’re doing it here, but I do like it.
