Totally agree. On the other hands, cheap laptop for us.

In server and gpu world, true. Laptop, desktop world. Not really. Most ppl don’t need that much computational power anyway.
Also, ppl usually not include the shipping, collecting ewaste and recycling ewaste in the carbon footprint cost. Our ewaste recycling is extremely inefficient compared to our manufacturing side.
For power, solar becomes so cheap now.
My rimworld works fine in my 10+ yrs old ddr3 desktop. Amd or Nvidia gpu are all fine. Spend more on ram for Linux built. The estimate lifespan of my new desktop is 10 yrs.
Linux gaming experience is okish. You really have to chk the compatibility because some games claim they support Linux, but not really.
Not trying to blame anyone, I just wish more ppl prefer old good stuff over new cheap stuff. Sigh.
Recycling those ewaste is a lot more expensive than manufacturing them. Of course that’s edge cases, but I think reusing old devices works better(and more environmentally friendly) for most ppl.
Nothing wrong with brain storming, just please consider reusing old devices when you start a cool project.
Ppl actually moved away from helm because lots of small helm chart is abandoned. And lots of ppl’s matrix already integrated with oidc. I prefer desktop app and mobile app. Haven’t looked into web ui. The real problem for matrix is the bridges: support is minimal, lots of trial and err; code is in beta, make me worried.
Even without ess or this helm chart, lots of ppl can still run matrix in k8s. But it’s good to see them to release more open source code. Thx for the news.
Kodi suits you better in your case. Jellyfin is cool though
I am more interested a self hosted Instagram solutions. I wish immich supports comments and emoji.
Maybe we should be glad about it
Maybe you don’t like it. Have you tried those ai for your logo?
Also, I think your project is really interesting. Good job!
I thought of writing a notes app too because sadly I can’t find something I want, even these has so many notes there already. So I have two questions for you:
Have you thought about switching to xilem in the future? I don’t mean to disrespect since I was waiting for a mature rust framework when I thought about starting my poc. I worry the gui framework I used get abandoned. (Tauri look nice, but I suspect editor is really performance demanding later. That’s why Raph have to pause/drop his ambitious editor project for his gui framework)
Have you thought about moving to client server model in the future? The reason is that I can hardly find a good open source project for platform for phone and allow multiple contributed authors. Maybe hacking/stitching wiki+markdown+git/syncthing is my dream.
Just random chit chat, don’t mean to pointing finger. And thanks for open sourcing your wonderful work.
I like their donation model. I hope they success.
Syncthing is such a wonderful project. RIP. But for us already being spoiled by syncthing, it might be a good time to self host services to handle, sync and serve our own data like photos, contacts and more.
the new one😂
I am surprised to unable to find this type.
Honestly, Linux has better support for the old hw, even better than m$ win.
