I’ve got no association with the game, any developers, publishers, whatever, I just really like the game a lot.
Of the pokemon-likes I’ve ever played, it’s easily my favorite, in part because it’s one of the most creative. In fact it’s barely a pokemon-like, just taking the basic formula and then really doing their own thing with it.
Great story, great gameplay, great vibes, and decent (but not stellar) post-game.
Recommended for anyone who likes monster collector games or quirky indie games.
I saw this one on one of the GDQs, and it looked like fun. It’s not really my genre of choice, but I’m still a little tempted to pick it up.
Don’t forget to mention the great music! It’s called cassette beasts after all!
I really liked what they did with type matching too, and that shines literally are a different type, had an absolute blast with the game, plays really well on the deck (though it absolutely eats battery life), sticker system was really cool too, just in general they really did a stellar job of interesting systems and the story was interesting too.
Thinking about it now, I kinda almost want to call it a Pokémon/Golden Sun like? Golden sun had a really awesome system with Djinns where mixing different elements and changing if they were set would literally change that characters class, granted them totally different powers and stats, I’m operating on memory since it’s been a long time but it’s an amazing game, easily my favourite GBA title and I knew there was another game it was reminding me of.
For the battery life problem, try to force the usage of Proton. The native Linux version got a prety nasty power bug going on.
Clicked to ask if you crossposted to discounted game communities, was pleased to see I didn’t actually need to ask because you have already done that.
Tbh I didn’t intentionally do that, so I think there much be some kind of trigger on this sub to automatically cross-post?
(edit: and to be clear, I’m glad it does!)
Just checked the links, since you said you did not crosspost.
It’ll say it was crossposted if it is the same link, even if someone else posted it and it was years ago. This is not perfect of course, sometimes I have posted the same link in three relevant communities and you would think each post would have two links: one for each other community, but each post only has one link.
Can confirm that Cassette Beasts is a great game. I haven’t been able to try the new update yet but I’m looking forward to it!
Great game if you like simple turn-based combat, definitely a steal at this price
Seems cool, thanks for sharing
