borderlands 3 made me lose interest in borderlands. I should have played pre sequel first but now I probably won’t.
I don’t think it was whatever toilet humor refers to though. It was other stuff. Mainly Ava at all and cringe dialogue in general.
A slightly more serious borderlands would be awesome
The toilet humor wasn’t the issue. It was the NPC’s never ending stream of sarcastic and self referential monologuing involved with every single step of every quest. There was rarely a moment of silence where I could just focus on the gameplay.
Toilet humor is the fucking sauce of Borderlands. BL3’s greatest flaws were the insufferable antagonists, the annoying Chosen One kid, and the death of my favorite player character directly caused by her. They might as well put skibidi toilet in BL4 because BL3 had the same kind of contemporary brainrot.
I’d be fine with that, if that had been criticism the games had ever received. But… this just seems like their own personal hangip?
I see that complaint pretty often when borderlands gets brought up, though it’s not “this game sucks because of the humor”
It’s usually people saying they loved the humor as a kid but now they find it kind of cringey and don’t have any interest in playing it.
I’m not totally sure I agree, my wife and I just played through BL 2 and laughed most of the way. Just as we both seperately did a decade-ish prior. The humor itself didn’t age poorly, just BL3 and Presequal.
To be clear, I’m not one of the people complaining. The game wouldn’t be different for me with or without the humor.
It seems like that guy is kinda douchey.
He could just state that it’s not the best idea to put in very specific references that might be outdated even by the launch date.
Thank God, now I might actually be able to enjoy a Borderlands game.
