I love Daft Punk so much. I hate that I never got a chance to see them live. I have the album Alive 2007 on repeat right now. (I say earlier stuff in the title because I didn’t care for the album Random Access Memories.)

Who else would you recommend I listen to? Especially if they’re still producing music. I love their loopy, sampled sound. Any other bands do something similar? Identical isn’t necessary, adjacent is fine.

100% go see Air on tour right now. The Moon Safari tour might be the closest thing to peak Daft Punk shows but obviously the chill side of it. Incredible vibes at these shows with amazing stage production.

Les Digitales Rhymes - Röyksopp is still active - Mirwais Ahmadzaï production - Basement Jaxx - The Avalanches (crazy amount of samples) - Danger - Red snapper (jazzy) - Dead mau5 ( not for me but the certainly took some the daft punk blueprint)

Of course Justice, Underworld, DJ Shadow, Fatboy slim, chemical brothers, Orbital, LCD Soundsystem

You mean who is the next genre defining band combining modern electonica and classic Disco funk into bona-fide club bangers?

Dunno… lemme know when you figure it out tho

There’s a whole genre of Future Funk out there.

Macross 82-99, Saint Pepsi, Conscious Thoughts, AnTgry, Yung Bae, id chief, Castle Carousel, to a lesser extent Flamingosis…

Not really the same but Chromeo.

Chromeo is so fucking funky and danceable.

Also just some random Future Funk suggestions…

I don’t believe there is a “next daft punk” as of yet but I would consider the following artists relatively daft punk adjacent. Certainly worth checking out.

    Flume

    What So Not

    Gesaffelstein

    RL Grime

    Rustie

    Jungle

    Chet Faker

    Die Antwoord

I’ve gotten really into Lemaitre, they’re a Norwegian electronic duo thas kind of in between Avicii and Daft Punk, as far as sound goes. To me at least, they’re incredible. Their song Reflection came on my playlist one day and… Man, you ever hear a song and just immediately know you’re going to listen to it on repeat for the next week? Then I checked out more of their songs and immediately listened to those on repeat as well.

I never hear anyone talking about them though. It’s crazy to me they’re not more popular. Their music just seems to push a button in my brain.

Excellent suggestion, both for their quality and similarity to daft punk. You’re right, I almost never hear people talk about them!

Roosevelt and Parcels aren’t as electronic but have very similar sounds. Daft Punk actually helped produce a Parcels single.

I recommend listening to Thomas Bangalter’s other projects.

I’m not sure if Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo had side projects too.
