I am also rocking a dream machine, mine however does not play CDs just Am/FM, which is perfectly acceptable for alarm duty.

I have never trusted my cell phone as an alarm due to my anxiety of if I set the volume correctly or not. I’m rocking my Sony Dream Machine that’s got to be over 20 years old now. Works perfectly, would recommend.
The BYD taxis in China are making me want an electric car more so, but I can’t financially justify letting go of a working ICE car.
You can test this issue with laptop sending large files to your NAS over Wi-Fi. Local device communication is crazy slow on my network over the eeros. I discovered this when I moved a TV that was on a wired connection to wireless and everything feel apart from there.
I’m using eero as my wifi and for whatever reason, the eero wifi only give me max 10 Mbps, while a wired connection is over 100 Mbps. Also, my tplink WAP gives me 50Mbps.
However, if I do a speed test to an outside server, it’ll report over 300 Mbps… Something is messed up with local stream for me with my eeros. I’ll likely be removing them soon.
However, in the short term I re-encoded a bunch of my 4k rips down to 1080 and this resolved all my bandwidth issues.
Still have my CD copy, but wonder if I can download the patches still… Maybe time to dust it off, just to find it has suffered rot… 😭
I have a really hard time getting Aurora working the way all my other Linux devices so that are running some form of Ubuntu (Mate or Bodhi). With that said, it’s been very stable and i like not being interrupted with packages to install while working on things…
Mixed bag review. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
I want my laundry machine to figure out the best way to wash whatever I toss in automatically without an Internet connection. I guess I’m asking for too much :(
Yes.
Living in a smal space also helps with lifestyle creep as you can’t find a space for new things. Also, only replace something if it’s broken or unsafe.
Use a custom launcher. I use Flauncher as my home page so it only has jellyfin visible. No ads ever.
You can theme Kodi to look pretty close to Netflix, but not out of the box. As my library doesn’t update too often, I can live with the slower refresh as it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make for the ability to play everything in my library.
Really, for the moat compatibility, a PC with a wireless keyboard is going to 100% of the time work with subtitles.
I switched to Kodi on my Chromecast 4K to fix most of my video playback issues. However, I still have a few cases where Kodi can’t decode the subtitle track, so I use subtitle edit to extract out the srt. Also, getting Kodi to always play subs is tricky, so I remapped the up key on the remote to always enable subs.
Kodi is also slower to show library updates on start, maybe a minute or so later and then it’s don’t with the sync. Maybe I didn’t setup something correctly… Anyway, give it a try. On my Sony with google tv the jellyfin app is great.
Have you tried Kodi?
