Hasn’t Mint pretty much overtaken Ubuntu as a beginner distro?

Sure but the main reason people bitch about Ubuntu is snaps and Mint has them disabled, right?

I think so, but Linux people don’t run out of Linux things to hate, and I say this as one of them :)

Mint fixes a lot of the problems with Ubuntu.

It will still break given enough time. But in my experience, it mostly works when recently installed. (I still don’t use it, but it’s better.)

It runs just fine even after a couple of version updates. And even if it comes to the worst, reinstalling just takes a few minutes. Mint is great if you don’t like to tinker too much and just want stuff to run out of the box.

Yeah but I wouldn’t say that’s a beginner distro. Kinda niche

Yeah I recommend mint nowdays. Ironically I use it myself as my gaming distro cos QubesOS doesn’t do graphics acceleration in qubes unless u got an entire GPU to pass through.
